God designed Christians to be born, protected, nurtured, and raised in the context of the community known as the Church. It is a community that provides a support system that helps people make it through tough times. God never meant for His child to grow and develop spiritually in isolation from other believers. We believe that having healthy, caring relationships with people is as crucial to our spiritual survival as food is to our physical survival. When we experience a loving, supporting, accepting community of Christian friends, God is able to begin the healing and growing process in our lives. We not only need a place where we can receive this kind of love and support, but also a place where we can give it to others.

Therefore, at First Baptist, we strive to create this kind of caring community in several ways. The primary way we seek to achieve it is by helping every person get connected in Sunday school or into a small group. To fully experience our caring community, we believe every Christian who calls First Baptist Church their home will have a small group where they can be loved, cared for, and supported and where they in turn will do the same for others.
